Lincoln Stallworth, bass player for Black Ice, has quietly watched each of his band mates fall in love and has accepted the fact he’ll probably never find the same for himself. He doesn’t really believe in true love, couldn’t fully understand the absurdity of it, or the notion there could be just one perfect person for everyone. A debilitating health issue began to shadow Lincoln in the middle of their last tour. As his physical symptoms worsen, Lincoln has to fight the urge to hide from the world and himself inside his estate.
Aaron Baylor enters Lincoln’s life at his lowest point. Lincoln feels broken, damaged beyond repair, and he’s ready to give-up. Aaron’s patience and unwavering support slowly begin to pull Lincoln back to being present in his own life and gives him hope for a future and for love. Will Aaron be the glue that holds the broken pieces of Lincoln’s life together? Can Lincoln fight his way back to good health and take a chance at love? Or will the task be too great for Lincoln to handle?
Beyond The Music is Book 7 in The Rock Gods series. This is the final story in the series, but also the launch of a new M/M spin-off series, Guarding the Gods, which will have many cameo appearances from The Rock Gods characters in each story. If you enjoyed The Rock Gods, I hope you’ll give Guarding the Gods a try!
Lincoln reached for the lyric book he kept on the end table beside his bed and began to scribble down the song verses popping off in his brain like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Fuck! This hurt, but Lincoln poured his raw emotion out onto the pages; the thoughts coming faster than he could write them down. The music would have to be written later, but this right now was his heart on his sleeve . . . bleeding.
I’m not the man you need me to be,
and that’s just not fair.
Wished I’d met you before the stains.
And long before the sickness ate me alive.
Wished there was a way to make me whole; make me feel again.
Can you glue what’s shattered?
And not the man that’s broken.
“I’ve never had a partner before, but I like the idea of taking care of you,” Lincoln said softly. “There’s no guarantee I can offer you that, and it really bothers me that can’t.”
“That doesn’t sound especially fair to put all of that responsibility on yourself, Linc,”Aaron said with a gentle touch of his fingers to Lincoln’s face. “Maybe it’s time for you to let someone else take care of you – I want to be that someone, Linc. If you’ll let me.”
5 Stars
This book was such a good addition to this series and I loved it! I have always wanted to know more about Lincoln’s character because there was just something about him that grabbed me…
Well with this book we find out so much more about him and he is now my favorite character in this series. He is so strong with everything he has to go through, which was a lot and the way he cares about Aaron was just so sweet. There was also steam in this book between these two men which was so hot!
Which brings me to the way Ann Lister wrote these characters and this story.. I have to be honest and say, I love the way she wrote this! With every book in this series she has grabbed me from the start and had me feeling everything the characters are going through so you just can not help rooting for them to get their HEA.
You will get some angst with this book along with some on the edge of your seat moments when someone is after the band members. You will also get to see the characters from the previous books in this series, which I loved getting to see where they were now.
I do not want to give away any spoilers so I will leave this with.. I can not recommend this series enough!
I received a ARC of this book from the author for a honest review!
Ann Lister is a native New Englander currently living on the island of Martha’s Vineyard with her husband. She has pulled details from her years living in the New England area and uses many local settings and landmarks in her novels.
After graduating art school, marrying, and raising two daughters, she established her own video production company. Her nearly two decades working in video production included work within the music industry and won her a coveted Telly Award. Her ‘behind-the-scenes’ exposure to the music world and her love of rock music is the inspiration for her erotic rock star romances.
Her rock star romance, “Fall For Me”, Book One in The Rock Gods series, was a Finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Award and Book Three, Make You Mine, established her as an Amazon #1 Bestselling Author. Each book in The Rock Gods series brings her two favorite elements together: musicians and the love between two men. These stories focus on what it truly means to love; love unconditionally, love without restrictions or labels, love without fear or judgment – to just simply love.
